portraits of the kitties...
1. murdock a.k.a. murdy, murdz, murrrder, murdstock, the princess who hisses
2. juan pablo montoya a.k.a. monty, montz, monster, montymoomoo, montydon, the little bastard who can't stop playing

we've both been preparing for upcoming shows. sacha has been making cds of his new record complete with handmade covers and practicing. I've been making jewelry for the next rock n shop, which is december 1st at the 12 galaxies - bands playing are continental, ebb and flow, and the herms.
this week's present from my mom is a winnie the pooh bib. thanks mom!
edie's getting very heavy - I went to the doctor last week and she felt for her head, which is down - meaning an exit strategy is in place.

week 32
xtina made the red monster that we can't wait to scare edie with - pictured here with sacha's festive sculpture on our front porch.

we had more fun holding ice at our 2nd childbirth class last monday - lots of heaving breathing and grunting going on. more labor videos to cry to. i am pictured here wondering to myself if i can get any bigger, and sacha assures me that yes, i can and will.

sacha will be joining the elusive band sanchez for a one off show at the rite spot on sunday, the 6th of november. do come.

week 31
i went to the first child birth class last monday with sacha and christina, my labor coach. it involved getting to know all of the other couples, holding ice and watching two movies about giving birth. we hadn't seen a birth before, it was intense and i can't believe i'm going through that soon.... i was also crying like a baby during the second video, thinking i was in good company with all the pregnant women in the room, but when the lights came on, it appeared to be all dry eyes but me. good thing they didn't show the preview for 'walk the line', that one gets me everytime.

this week's present from my mom is a rubber ducky that tells you when the water is too hot. cute and safe. thanks mom!

we've been on a 'special order' kick lately, and most things are starting to arrive... new wheels for our family wagon - we won't go into the whole ordeal, but there certainly was one. wood blinds for our dining room came in and actually fit, giving us the privacy we haven't had since we moved in.

when we found out I was pregnant, my mom sent us a box of presents, one to open every week of the pregnancy. today's present is a onesie. thanks mom! it is hard to imagine that soon, we will dressing a body in that onesie. we love the countdown by opening presents every week. there aren't many presents left in the box now. murdock will miss the box when it's gone, she loves chewing on the ribbon.

Our landlord is having our house painted this week. While the lead-based paint is being scraped off, we are staying at Christina's house, which means of course, we get to watch TV and get lots of love from many animals. this picture is me knitting with lieben on my lap... a lovely and pliable cat, very different from my kitties. and although my cats like to hiss and bite me, i'm missing them terribly.

had a scare last week....

a cyst near my cervix ruptured so I was leaking, but when the leaking started, I'd forgotten I had a cyst, so I thought it was my amniotic fluid leaking. needless to say I was freaking out because if it was amniotic fluid, I would have had to stay in the hospital until edith was born...12 weeks early, and I wasn't ready for that yet.

Myra & Lisa took me to UCSF and after being spare changed in the ER by a guy who was told to stop taking all his pills at once, I was wheeled up to labor & delivery. By that time, I'd stopped leaking and remembered the cyst, so I started to relax. The nurse (who looked like the short-haired lesbian dog trainer from best in show) hooked me up to a machine to monitor the baby's heart beat and watch for contractions (of which I had none). About an hour later, the doctor came in to examine me, an early twenty something resident who didn't know that once you put tools under running water, they aren't sterile anymore. During her second examination of me, she pinched me so hard that I screamed and began crying from the shock of it. after she got another doctor to check me out, she was paged, and left, phew. the other doctor finished checking me out and said everything was in tact.

This was our practice - Sacha holding my hand while I was in a lot of pain. I don't think he liked it, but I couldn't tell at the time. i'm happy my passenger is still along for the ride for a few more months.
